Animated Objects

Tire Swing              -----

Fish Pond Jump      -------

Overview

When making these two animations for the different things in my room, I had to think about what made sense for not only the frame positioning but also other things that could happen during the frame-by-frame animation. For example, in the tire animation, I had to not only think about the positioning of the tire but also the rope that it is attached to and how that would be affected based on the tires positioning. For the fish jumping from pond to pond, I had to think about the different things that typically happen to water when a fish flops in water, the first thing that came to mind was the different water ripples for when something surfaces and when something lands in water, the other thing was the fact that whenever something comes out of water, it usually leaves behind a water trail so I added some water affects behind the fish to.

Difficulties

The tricky part for both animations was making sure that everything looked like it animated properly and didn't look weird in any way, I was having trouble at first animating the rope for the tire swing so I continued to experiment with what parts of the rope would get animated until I came up with the idea that it would be wrapped around something and then the extension of the rope that goes down from the branch becomes animated. This made for a more fluid animation for the tire swing.

Techniques

Some techniques that I used from using Piskel included using the layering tool to help tell where my previous frames were so I can better align the positioning of the different frames, making the initial, middle and final poses of the frames first and then fitting other frames in-between them to help make better and more fluid animations, and thinking about how these objects would typically act in real life and applying that to animating them but in a more exaggerated way to where it is not too slow.
